The Don of motor racing journalism is looking for some more perks to cover the IndyCar Series. Credential and buffet privileges are nice enough, but Gordon Kirby would like a little more. How about the IRL subsidizing airfare costs to events for journalists? Sounds good! (Not that we could ever get approved for such benefits. Christ, we were 86ed from the media center at the Cleveland GP a few years back for trying to swipe a few rip tips. Digression.)This scheme to get more national journalists to cover races actually came from Honda's PR- guy T.E. McHale, who was quoted in Kirby's weekly website article. The IRL already floats the bill for most of the field to compete, why not help the media-guys out also?
